The delivery ceremony for Sino-Brazilian Earth Resources Satellite 02B was held by the Commission of Science Technology and Industry for National Defense (COSTIND), marking the transition of the satellite from trial stage to practical use. Sun Laiyan, Vice Minister of COSTIND, Administrator of China National Space Administration, Li Yuan, vice minister of Ministry of Land and Resources and Wang Chunfeng, Deputy Director General of SBSM attended the ceremony.

The Earth Resources Satellite 02B is an earth observation satellite with 3 resolutions. The use of it will help to break the foreign monopoly of high resolution data and will play important roles in the fields of land and resources, surveying and mapping, city planning, environmental monitoring, and disaster prevention and mitigation.
