The General Office

The General Office is in charge of day-to-day operation of the Bureau, including processing documentations and telegrams, organizing meetings, confidential information communication, keeping files, etc. It is also responsible for information acquisition, confidentiality management, news release, handling of letters and calls, security, policy study，and government information disclosure. It is also in charge of the coordination and supervision of the daily work within the Bureau.

The Department of Planning and Finance

The Department of Planning and Finance has the following main functions:

To organize and work out the mid and long term plan for surveying and mapping, the national basic surveying and mapping plan; to draw up the annual plan of national basic surveying and mapping; to manage and supervise the use of the government funds such as the national surveying and mapping operation budget and earmarked funds

The Department of National Land Survey

The Department of National Land Survey has the following main functions:

To organize and manage the basic surveying and mapping, international border surveying and mapping, administrative boundary surveying and mapping, cadastral surveying and mapping, and national or important surveying and mapping projects; to maintain and update the national surveying and mapping data and control systems; to take charge of the drawing of the national plan for aerial photography; to be in charge of the supervision and management of space imagery and aerial photography for civil use.

The Department of Legislation and Industry Management

The Department of Legislation and Industry Management has the following main functions:

To take charge of drawing surveying and mapping law, regulations and department rules, and formulating policies for surveying and mapping industry management; To be charged with the management of surveying and mapping qualification; to formulate the standards for surveying and mapping market access and organize its implementation; to undertake the investigation and punishment of national or grave illegal surveying and mapping cases; to undertake administrative reconsideration and response.

The Department of Geographic Information and Maps (Department of Surveying and Mapping Results Management)

The Department of Geographic Information and Maps (Department of Surveying and Mapping Results Management) has the following main functions:

To take charge of providing basic geographic information services for the public and emergency response; to guide geographic information application services; to examine and approve important geographic information and data; to coordinate the supervision and management of geographic information security; to examine and approve the use of secret-related surveying and mapping results; to supervise and manage the summarizing and submitting of surveying and mapping results, and the protection of surveying markers; to manage map compilation and to examine and approve maps for the public.

The Department of Science, Technology and International Cooperation

The Department of Science, Technology and International Cooperation has the following functions:

To formulate policies and plans related to surveying and mapping S&T innovation; to organize and manage basic research of surveying and mapping, tackling problems of key surveying and mapping technology, and commercialization of technical results, to manage the standardization of surveying and mapping and geographic information, to conduct international cooperation in the field of surveying and mapping; to examine and verify external provision of surveying and mapping results and surveying and mapping activities conducted in China by foreign organizations and individuals.

The Department of Personnel　　

The Department of Personnel has the following main functions:

To take charge of the personnel management and institutional composition of the Bureau and its subordinate organizations; to formulate plans and policies related to personnel development; to carry out education, training, and appraisal of professional qualifications; and to guide the management of surveying and mapping qualifications.

The party committee of the Bureau takes charge of the work of party-people relation of the Bureau and its subordinate institutions.
