Chinese expedition team sets for Kunlun Station
A 20-person expedition team left Zhongshan Station for Kunlun Station on December 18, 2009. They will march 1300 kilometers to reach Dome Argus (Dome A), the highest icecap of the Antarctic continent at 4093 meters above the sea level. The team will drill in the ice cores, and conduct meteorological observation and surveying. Han Huijun and Li Fusheng from Heilongjiang Bureau of Surveying and Mapping will take charge of car navigation and GPS observation. |
