International Scientific & Technological Cooperation
In recent years, NASG and its affiliated units signed agreements for technical cooperation and talent training with foreign institutes and universities and colleges including FGI (Finnish Geodetic Institute), ITC (International Institute for Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation), University of New South Wales (Australia), George Mason University (USA) and the University of Nottingham (UK), etc. Chinese Academy of Surveying and Mapping (CASM) and the University of Nottingham jointly set up Sino-British Geospatial Information Research Center.
In 2010, CASM, in cooperation with Australia, conducted the international scientific & technological cooperation project of “Experimental Study on Ground Geometric Calibration of High-resolution Stereomapping Satellite” and passed the acceptance inspection. In cooperation with the Mathematics, Informatics and Statistics (CMIS) under Australian Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO), CASM has finished researches on site selection of ZY-3 satellite ground geometric calibration field, key ground technologies for ZY-3 satellite ground geometric calibration and key technologies of geometric calculation of satellite-ground integration, etc. and put forward the proposals for site selection and construction of satellite ground geometric calibration field that are in line with the national conditions of China, filling the gap of China in this aspect; by introducing the ground geometric calibration technology of Australia, CASM has solved the problem of geometric calibration of elements of interior orientation of satellite ground geometric calibration and worked out geometric calibration algorithm and software, thereby helping China’s high-resolution stereo-mapping satellite-ground calibration reach the international advanced level.
In 2010, CASM cooperated with the University of Nottingham to conduct the international scientific & technological project of “Development of and Research on Real-time High-precision Locating Prototype of High-sensitivity Low-cost GPS Receiver” and passed the acceptance inspection. Based on low-cost and high-sensitivity GPS receiver and network RTK facilities, the project is designed to develop the prototype system with high precision and real-time positioning function and improve the continuity of positioning, reliability and locating precision under difficulty conditions; in addition, the project may facilitate formation of large-scale value-added markets based on LBS (location-based service) by reducing the cost of investment in hardware under the precondition of keeping locating precision. The both sides cooperated with each other and made technological breakthroughs in terms of evaluation of observation data of low-cost GPS receiver, evaluation of ambiguity of whole cycles of single frequency carrier phase and the continuous operation reference station management system, etc.
In 2010, CASM, NASG Satellite Surveying & Mapping Application Center and CSIRO jointly carried out the international project of “Simulation Study on Surface Environment Remote Sensing Monitoring and 3D Dynamic Dam Break” and made great achievements. The project is designed to monitor the land cover and vegetation changes in Three-river Source Natural Reserve and conduct scenario prediction studies on dam break and flood based on Qingjiang Geheyan Reservoir by utilizing the cutting-edge remote sensing, computer modeling and visualization technologies. Relevant research results of the project are of great reference value for scientific and information-based governmental decision making in terms of ecological environment management and disaster reduction.
National Geomatics Center of China, in collaboration with Canada, carried out the project of “Urban-oriented Environmental Monitoring and Automatic Extraction of Ground Features for Map Updating”, enhanced scientific & technological cooperation and communication and made great achievements.
Wuhan University completed the Sino-Austrian scientific & technological cooperation project of “Research on Expert System for Prediction of Landslide Disasters” (2003-2005), the Sino-Swiss cooperation project of “Monitoring System for Disaster Prevention Based On Multi-sensor” and the Sino-European cooperation project of “Integrated Optimization of Landslide Alert System”, accelerating integration and optimization of advanced technologies including the 3S technology and effectively promoted applications of new technologies and new methods in landslide disaster prevention & control projects; in 2011, NASG launched the IGSSE project “4D City – Space-time Urban Infrastructure Mapping by Multi-sensor Fusion and Visualization”, which is based on German TerraSAR/TenDEM-X program and aims at development of high-resolution synthetic aperture radar and other new-type sensors and wider applications of radar remote sensing technologies in urban areas.
