MAPGIS large geographic information system platform software

In 1990s, China successfully developed MAPGIS, a microcomputer-based geographic information system with proprietary intellectual property right. After about 20 years of innovation and development, MAPGIS has evolved into a large and distributed geographic information system platform software, realizing full integration between remote sensing processing and GIS and enabling the true 3D GIS development platform integrating the aerial, above-the-ground, earth surface and underground space. MAPGIS allows rapid acquisition and updating of mass data, geographic information data management oriented to geographic entity, true 3D dynamic modeling and visualization and geographic information network service and supports distributed calculation of geographic information data in network environment, thereby satisfying the needs for national spatial infrastructure construction and information-based construction of major projects. The software platform has been widely applied in information-based construction of land resources, energy, water conservancy, forestry, communications, public facilities and transportation, and successfully used in the search-and-rescue work of “Shenzhou” manned spaceships and integration of the basic geological data of “Wenchuan earthquake relief work”, and relevant research results won the second-class prize of National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology 2009.

ImageInfo remote sensing processing software

In 2002, China successfully developed ImageInfo, the first large, cluster and distributed remote sensing processing software, which integrates remote sensing image processing and geographic information system analysis and is capable of processing multi-spectral, radar and hyper-spectral data, and provides an integrated environment for remote sensing image analysis and visualization with the performance reaching the advanced level of similar software in the world.

SWDC digital aerial camera

In 2007, China successfully developed its first digital aerial camera. With the precision index taking the lead and the overall technical index reaching the advanced level in the world, SWDC series products have been widely applied in land resources, surveying & mapping geographic information, water conservancy, highway, railway, urban construction, environmental protection and tourism.

DP Grid digital photogrammetry grid system

In 2007, China developed DP Grid, a digital photogrammetry grid system. Digital photogrammetry grid parallel processing technology, image matching technology and seamless mapping technology that are adopted in the system have reached the international advanced level. The system significantly increases the automation level of remote sensing image data processing in China and its automatic processing capability is over 8 times of the existing workstation of digital photogrammetry, thus it can satisfy the needs for rapid acquisition and updating of three-dimensional geographic spatial information, and can provide national economy and social development with up-to-date three-dimensional geographic spatial information.

PixelGrid integrated high-resolution mapping system of remote sensing image and data

In 2009, China successfully developed PixelGrid, an integrated high-resolution mapping system of remote sensing image and data, effectively solving the problems related to earth curvature correction and cross-projection zone that need to be considered in the process of large-area block adjustment as well as full-automatic extraction of DEM/DSM under the condition of complicated terrain, making it possible to survey and map topographic map at border areas or beyond the borders, realizing cluster distributed parallel computing that is based on loosely-coupled parallel service middleware and operates in high-speed local-area network, significantly increasing the overall processing capacity of remote sensing data to 400,000-600,000Km2/month, which represents an internationally-advanced level; of which the core technologies the photogrammetry for linear array images and auto-matching technology based on multi-baseline and multiple characteristics, which are core technologies adopted in PixelGrid, have won Carl Pulrich Award 2005 and Hansa Luftbild Award 2007 respectively, which are authoritative awards for international photogrammetry and remote sensing.

GeoGlobe network 3D virtual earth software platform

In 2010, in terms of open virtual earth integration & sharing platform technologies, NASG made breakthroughs in key technologies including organization and distributed management of global multi-source multi-scale mass geographic information data, efficient transmission and three-dimensional visualization of geographic information data as well as concurrent access of large-scale users, etc., innovated heterogeneous geographic information and software sharing and interoperable method, and successfully developed Geoglobe (network three-dimensional virtual earth software platform).NASG, by means of GeoGlobe, set up Map World and the state-level database management system for China’s second survey on land utilization. Relevant research findings were awarded National Prize for Science & Technology Progress 2010.

SARMapper mapping system

In 2011, NASG successfully developed China’s first airborne multi-band and multi-polarity interference SAR mapping system with proprietary intellectual property right, made breakthroughs in several core technologies and acquired 6 patents with proprietary intellectual property right. The SAR mapping system has satisfied the requirements for 1:10k, 1:50k topographic mapping and land cover mapping, solved the mapping problems in the areas covered by ice, snow and mist, made up the deficiency of difficulty in acquisition of aerospace optical remote sensing images in cloudy and icy areas, thereby playing an important role in surveying and mapping, disaster prevention & reduction and emergency response and monitoring of national geographic conditions in the areas with harsh conditions as well as national defense security.

UAV aerial photogrammetric system

As an effective complement to traditional aerial photogrammetry, UAV aerial photogrammetric system features high flexibility, high efficiency, promptness, high precision, low operating costs and extensive applications, etc., thus having distinct advantages in rapid acquisition of high-resolution images in small areas and the areas where flight is difficult. In 2003, NASG solved technological problems such as UAV flight in parallel lines and steady attitude, etc., developed UAVRS-Ⅱ low-altitude UAV remote sensing monitoring system and enriched the methods for acquisition of low-altitude remote sensing data. In 2008, NASG successfully applied the UAV aerial photogrammetric system in the relief work and post-disaster reconstruction in the wake of Wenchuan earthquake and played an important role, thereby significantly enhancing the surveying & mapping emergency support service capability.

Geographic information emergency monitoring vehicle

In 2011, NASG successfully developed the first national geographic information emergency monitoring vehicle of China. National geographic information emergency monitoring vehicle is a type of mobile emergency surveying & mapping service assurance equipment integrating image acquisition, data processing, results output and remote data transmission. By making use of advanced geographic technologies including remote sensing technology, geographic information system technology and global positioning and based on the vehicle-mounted platform, the monitoring vehicle integrates emergency 3D geographic information and task planning system, UAV remote sensing image acquisition system, geographic video capture system, emergency remote sensing image processing system, remote data transmission system, emergency transportation support system and mobile conference system and so on, creating a new vehicle-mounted emergency surveying & mapping service mode for rapid acquisition of remote sensing image, on-site real-time processing and output as well as real-time satellite remote transmission and emergency command in disaster areas.
